#YouthOfUNESCO: First ever African Union Youth Envoy

“I’ve been advocating for the rights of African youth for a long time, and now, I get to do it on a different platform as a Youth Envoy. During my term, I want to focus on two main things.

The first is to be the connection and space between the African Union and the African Youth for youth not only to participate but to engage meaningfully with the African Union and its Member States.

The second focus is on intergenerational dialogue and co-leadership. The average age of African leaders is 66 years and the average age of youth in Africa is 25 years.

We have at least a 40-year gap that doesn’t exist anywhere else in the world except in Africa! We need to focus on that gap, start the dialogue and move towards intergenerational collaboration and co-leadership. Co-leading is not about inheriting systems we don’t understand, it’s about co-designing and reforming the system together in order to build the Africa we want.”… Read more here
